Contact Lenses
For those who rely on glasses for clear vision, contact lenses are often an option. However, because contact lenses stay in contact with the surface of the eye for an extended period, they can, at times, cause problems in the eyes. Contact lens wearers have a higher incidence of abrasions on the surface of the eye, and of serious infections on the surface of the eye. Thus, it is important to carefully follow the instructions of the contact lens doctor to be sure you don't do something that could put your eyes at risk. Even though contact lenses are available which are designed to be used overnight, we recommend to all our contact lens patients that they remove and disinfect their lenses before they go to sleep and put them back in the eyes when they wake up. |
