Christopher M. Tortora, M.D. • Medical Director • Specialty: Cataract & Glaucoma • Diplomate, American Board of Ophthalmology Christopher Tortora, M.D. is medical director of the Hawaiian Eye Center and our primary surgeon. Dr. Tortora received his medical degree and ophthalmology residency training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He subsequently completed subspecialty fellowship training in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma at Harvard University's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. |
Dr. Tortora is an expert in "no stitch," or "small incision" phacoemulsification cataract surgery. He has performed well over 10,000 cataract procedures and has been asked to lecture internationally about his surgical techniques. Surgeons from the United States and abroad have also traveled to our surgery center to observe Dr. Tortora's surgical techniques. Dr. Tortora and the doctors of the Hawaiian Eye Center have always been Hawaii's leaders in cataract care. They opened Hawaii's first outpatient eye surgery center in 1982 and brought "no stitch" surgery to the islands. Our doctors pride themselves on providing the highest quality care with a personal touch. |

Steven Rhee, D.O. • Specialty: Cornea, External Disease, & Cataract • Diplomate, American Board of Ophthalmology Dr. Rhee received his medical degree at the University of Medicine & Dentistry, New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine. He trained in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and completed sub-specialty fellowship training in cornea and external disease at the prestigious Tufts-New England Eye Center in Boston. Dr. Rhee has participated in medical missions abroad and has been involved in numerous medical research projects. He is an accomplished eye surgeon specializing in cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, advanced corneal surgical techniques, and refractive surgery such as LASIK™. |

Nancy W. Lundbllad, M.D. Medical Ophthalmology Diplomate, American Board of Ophthalmology
Nancy W. Lundblad, M.D. is based in our Hilo Consultation Office. Dr. Lundblad attended Harvard University, then went on to study medicine at the University of Iowa. She completed her ophthalmology training at University of North Carolina. She has practiced ophthalmology and administrative medicine in Washington State and Hawaii, and has been a resident of Hilo since 2003.
