Restore youthful vision with premium cataract removal

Cataracts are removed to restore good clear vision, but cataract patients have usually needed glasses after the cataract is removed. Today, advances in technology allow many cataract patients to choose good vision without glasses for most activities. With enhanced techniques, we can often restore youthful vision with a range of focus near and far without glasses or contact lenses. These patients commonly see well to read as well as to drive and look at television without the use of corrective lenses.

A cataract is a gradual opacification of the normal crystalline lens inside the eye. As the lens becomes cloudy, it causes a reduction in vision. Once that vision loss is bothersome it's time to remove the cataract. Today’s cataract patients have a choice of standard cataract removal, or an enhanced (premium) cataract procedure which gives them an excellent chance of restoring good vision without glasses or contact lenses.

Cataract removal is a short, painless surgical procedure often done on an outpatient basis at a surgery center. Surgery centers provide the safety of a hospital with the comfort of an office setting.

When a cataract is removed, the cloudy lens inside the eye is removed to allow light to pass into the eye and create sharper, clearer natural vision. A lens implant must be placed inside the eye to allow for good vision following cataract removal. For most people, having the cataract removed improves the vision, but most still need glasses afterward for the clearest vision. Perhaps they need glasses for reading, for driving, or even for clear vision all the time.

Advanced technology now allows us to correct the vision more effectively, often eliminating the need for glasses following cataract removal. With the advent of the advanced "premium" cataract procedure, new lens implant technology plus addressing astigmatism in the eye commonly produces good vision both near and far without glasses. Many patients have been extremely happy with the benefits of these advances.

If you feel that glasses weigh you down and cramp your style, ask your doctor about new premium lens implants to help correct vision for distance, near and in between.

Advanced, or premium implants are designed to overcome an age-related problem known as "presbyopia." Presbyopia occurs for most people in their mid-forties when reading vision becomes more difficult and most people require bifocals. Due to the advanced modern design of the new implants, they can overcome the effect of this aging change on your eyes and restore that normal distance and near vision. Because of this, these advanced implants are also often referred to as "presbyopia correcting implants."

Hawaiian Eye Center is Hawaii's leader in cataract care and is pleased to offer several types of advanced premium lens implants. Please call if your vision isn't what it used to be and let us tell you if you are a candidate for this revolutionary procedure.
