Surgery

Most surgery is performed in our Ambulatory Surgery Facility in Wahiawa on Oahu. Our eye surgery and laser suite is part of one of the most comprehensive eye surgery centers in Hawaii. It features the most advanced equipment available for specialized eye care. Two fully equipped, hi-tech surgery suites make Hawaiian Eye Center among the safest and most comfortable locations for your eye procedure. Cataract Care

You can avoid the inconvenience and expense of a hospital stay when you have your procedure in our ultra-modern Surgicenter. Our doctors utilize the latest techniques including "no stitch, no injection, patchless" cataract surgery. After only a few hours in state-of-the-art surgery center and a short 20-minute procedure, you will leave our family to rejoin your own. At Hawaiian Eye Center, we pride ourselves on offering the latest techniques and technology for cataract care. In our modern high-tech surgicenter, we generally numb the eye with only eye drops. This means there is no pain during the procedure. Injections around the eye for numbing are almost never necessary anymore at our surgicenter. The cataract is removed using a procedure known as phacoemulsification in which high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) are used to break up and remove the cloudy cataract. This technique allows for safe removal of a cataract utilizing a tiny incision often less than 1/8" wide. Once the cataract has been removed, a tiny lens implant is folded and placed into the eye to restore the focusing power lost with the removal of the lens (cataract).

Hawaiian Eye Center is proud to offer the latest technology in lens implants. Multifocal and accommodative lens implants are deisgned to reduce the need for glasses by providing good vision at both distance and at near. These premium implants are ideal for cataract patients who don't want to wear glasses most of the time.

Transportation

If you need transportation for your surgery at Hawaiian Eye Center, we can arrange for one of our courtesy vans to pick you up and take you home. We will even pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel if you're flying in from the neighbor islands.
